Y-PEER Laos participated in the AFPPD Standing Committee Meeting
Y-PEER Asia Pacific is proud to highlight the meaningful participation of Y-PEER Laos in the AFPPD Standing Committee Meeting on Investing in Youth, held under the theme “Youth Empowerment for Inclusive Growth” on 4 June 2026 in Vientiane, Lao PDR.
Convened by AFPPD in collaboration with the National Assembly of Lao PDR, with support from the Japan Trust Fund and UNFPA, the meeting brought together parliamentarians, ambassadors, civil society organizations, youth organizations, and development partners from across Southeast and South Asia to discuss key issues affecting young people, including employment, migration, education, health, entrepreneurship, and digitalization.
Representing Y-PEER Laos, Ms. Chintanaphone Chanthavong served as the National Youth Representative, ensuring that the voices, experiences, and aspirations of young people in Lao PDR were meaningfully reflected in regional policy discussions. She also delivered a presentation during the session on Youth Employment, Migration and Inclusive Economic Growth, sharing youth-led recommendations on skills development, safe migration pathways, youth entrepreneurship, and inclusive labour markets.
Together with Y-PEER Laos youth volunteers, the team actively engaged with policymakers and youth leaders from across the region, reinforcing the importance of investing in young people not only as beneficiaries of development, but as partners and leaders in shaping inclusive and sustainable solutions.
We are encouraged by the strong regional commitment reflected through the unanimous adoption of the Statement on Youth Empowerment for Inclusive Growth, which outlines shared commitments and recommendations to advance inclusive development for young people.
Y-PEER Asia Pacific congratulates Y-PEER Laos for their leadership and continued commitment to amplifying youth voices, promoting meaningful youth participation, and strengthening collaboration between young people and decision-makers across the region.
