Y-PEER Asia Pacific is pleased to invite its National Networks under Y-PEER Asia Pacific to submit proposals to conduct a National Training of Trainers for Deaf and hard-of-hearing young people.

This initiative aims to strengthen the participation of Deaf and hard-of-hearing young people in peer education by equipping them with the knowledge, skills and tools needed to educate, support and advocate alongside other young people in their communities.

Building on the work implemented by selected National Networks in the previous year, Y-PEER Asia Pacific will select three National Networks to organize a National ToT in 2026. All activities must be completed by the end of November 2026.

OBJECTIVES

The proposed training should contribute to:

• Strengthening the knowledge and facilitation skills of Deaf and hard-of-hearing young people
• Increasing their meaningful participation in peer education and youth-led advocacy
• Improving access to inclusive and accessible information
• Building the capacity of National Networks to work at the intersection of youth, disability inclusion and SRHR
• Establishing or strengthening partnerships with Deaf organizations, schools, disability organizations and relevant institutions.

WHO CAN APPLY?

The call is open to Y-PEER National Networks in the Asia-Pacific region.

National Networks are encouraged to collaborate with:

• Organizations of persons with disabilities;
• Deaf associations and youth groups;
• Schools or institutions serving Deaf and hard-of-hearing learners;
• Sign-language interpreters;
• Government institutions;
• Civil society organizations; and
• Other relevant local partners.

 TRAINING PARTICIPANTS

The primary participants should be Deaf and hard-of-hearing young people. National Networks should prioritize the meaningful inclusion of young people and ensure diversity in gender, location and social background wherever possible.

TRAINING CONTENT

Applicants may adapt the programme to their national context. Suggested areas include:

• Peer education and facilitation skills;
• Sexual and reproductive health and rights;
• Mental health and psychosocial well-being;
• Consent and healthy relationships;
• Gender equality and prevention of gender-based violence;
• Life skills and youth leadership;
• Advocacy and communication; and
• Disability rights and inclusion.

IMPLEMENTATION PERIOD

The National ToT and related activities must be completed by the end of November 2026.

BUDGET AND TIMELINE

Applicants must submit:

• A concise proposal using the prescribed proposal form

• A separate Excel sheet containing a realistic and itemized budget and timeline showing the proposed activities, milestones and completion dates.

The budget should provide clear calculations for all anticipated programme expenses, including facilitation, sign-language interpretation, accessibility support, training materials, venue, meals, transportation and other relevant costs.

FUNDING ARRANGEMENTS

• Funds may be transferred directly to a registered National Network that has an organizational bank account.
• Where a National Network is not formally registered or does not have an organizational bank account, an alternative transfer arrangement may be considered in consultation with Y-PEER Asia Pacific and in accordance with the applicable financial requirements.

SELECTION CONSIDERATIONS

Applications will be reviewed based on:

Relevance to the objectives of the call;

• Meaningful involvement of Deaf and hard-of-hearing young people;
• Quality and feasibility of the proposed training;
• Accessibility and safeguarding arrangements;
• Experience and capacity of the National Network;
• Strength of local partnerships;
• Realistic budget and timeline; and
• Potential for sustainability and follow-up activities.
