Dechen Wangchuk - Bhutan
Dechen Wangchuk is 21 year old student of 3rd year pursuing Food Science and Technology at the College of Natural Resources in Bhutan. He have always been actively involved with the Y-PEER Bhutan in achieving its mandate of promoting the sexual and reproductive health and rights of every individual adolescent and its three Zeros of ICPD.
Along with fellow youth advocates he had facilitated several training and capacity development programs to ensure the right of every adolescent to information. Currently, he is serving as a G17 Ambassador on SDG 5, Gender Equality, and working towards empowering every gender in his community. He was also one of the youth delegates of the Asia-Pacific Youth Forum on Sustainable Development 2023 reviewing and addressing some of the key barriers faced by youths in achieving the targeted 2030 agenda.He is also certified STEM career mentor, who successfully mentored a couple of higher students as well as a certified Peer educator.
Maria Iqbal Shah - Pakistan
Maria Iqbal Shah is a 20-year-old female from Pakistan. She is currently a third-year student in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) Programme at Aga Khan University, Pakistan. Moreover, she is the core member and mentor in the Me for Myself (M4M) International Mental Health Campaign. In addition to it, she is the alumnus and ambassador of Aspire Leaders Programme founded by Harvard University.
She is also working as a mentor at the New York Academy of Sciences. She is passionate about learning new things such as mental health, sexual reproductive health, rights, history, and culture. Besides, her skills, teamwork abilities, and experiences made her able to be an enthusiastic intern. She has participated in different national and international volunteer programs, competitions, and projects.
Edwin Terwiel Ningal - PNG
Edwin Terwiel Ningal is 22-year-old male from Papua New Guinea. He is currently in final year of undergraduate study at the University of Papua New Guinea studying Demography and Anthropology. Additionally, he is a resident Peer mentor and counsellor at the university with two years of experience in the field of Therapeutic Counselling and Mental Healthcare. He has a strong set of skills in leadership, organisational management, research coordination, and project management. His interests lie in several areas, including climate change, youth empowerment, community development, sexual and reproductive health services, mental health, and literacy.
He believes that these issues of SRHR are crucial to address for the betterment of society as a whole, and he is passionate about making a positive impact in these areas. Throughout his academic career, Ihehave honed his leadership skills through various extracurricular activities and community involvement as well as participating in National and Regional forums that aim to address youth engagement, development of the SDGs and National development.
Sumina Maharjan - Nepal
Sumina Maharjan is 22 year old stident from Kathmandu, Nepal is currently pursuing her Bachelor degree in Public Health at the Central Department of Public Health, Institute of Medicine. She has been working as Membership Coordinator at Team NEPO Lalitpur, a youth-led organization based in Nepal. She has also been actively engaging herself in different volunteering activities.
She has the strong zeal to contribute in promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health and rights among young people in her country. She strongly believes that Knowledge is Power and she is moving forward to empower young people with accurate information and knowledge regarding SRHR.
Pelden Lhamo - Bhutan
Pelden Lhamo is 20 year old young activist from Bhutan who is currently in her final year of college pursuing Environmental Management in the Royal Thimphu College, Bhutan. She is keen advocate for Gender and Climate Studies which made her involve in lot of advocacy groups and youth organizations as well. She is an active member of Y-PEER Bhutan network in her college, a core member of the Me for Myself campaign, and the president of the Econscious Society in her college. Apart from that, she enjoys hiking and painting in her free time. She firmly believes that Climate related issues arise from gender disparities and aims to connect Climate change with Gender inequality. With her interest and still developing skills, she hopes she can help the world be a better one for the future youths.
Sandesh Basnet - Nepal
Sandesh Basnet is 21 year old male from Nepal who is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Administration in Kathmandu. He is also working as a Country Ambassador at Youth Opportunities and an Executive Member of the Nepal Youth Red Cross Circle.
