Background:
Y-PEER is a ground breaking and comprehensive youth-to-youth initiative pioneered by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in 1999, as a response to recommendations from a UNFPA commissioned assessment of peer education efforts in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Y-PEER was introduced in 2009 and has expanded in more than 15 countries in Asia Pacific Region and in 50 countries globally. Since the end of 2010, many national networks and regional centers work independently with their own decision-making body.
Y-PEER Nepal was launched jointly by UNFPA Nepal, Y-PEER International, FPAN and partner organization in 2010. Since introduction, Y-PEER has been hosted by other organizations which includes FPAN, AYON and Restless Development.
