Peer educator of y-peer nepal samna lawati & lasata tuladhar conducted a session in peace boarding school on a physiology of mensuration focusing on 5 major parts:
I. Growing up: The session aimed on making the participants familiar with the reproductive part of their body. The session included the information about the maintenance of the hygiene and cleaning around the vagina.
II. Nutrition: The session focused on the importance of balance diet and healthy eating habits. The participants were given information about the importance of Vitamin C and Iron.
III. Physiology of Menstruation: The session aimed to make the participants familiar about the biological aspect of menstruation and how the female reproductive system works during the period. The focal point of the session was to make them comfortable and familiar with the whole topic of menstruation. The key note of the session was to inform them about how menstruation is a natural process and how it happens to every female.
IV. Preparing for periods: The session centered on how one can use the 28 days calendar method to prepare themselves for the periods. The participants were taught the cycle to predict their dates of period. They were also taught about the menstruation cramps and how it occurs.
V. Menstruation Hygiene: The major part of the whole session was to teach them about the hygiene factor of the menstruation. The participants learned about the cleaning and use of the menstrual tools like sanitary pads, cloths pad.
