National APFSD Youth Forum

What is the National APFSD Youth Forum?

The National APFSD Youth Forum is an event that brings together youth from diverse backgrounds and organizations across Bhutan to discuss the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the lead-up to the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD). Through this forum, participants engage in meaningful dialogue, explore challenges, and collaboratively develop solutions specific to the Bhutanese context. This gathering allows youth to gain insights into the SDGs, exchange ideas, and shape youths perspectives on sustainable development.

Why did it start?

The forum was created to give Bhutanese youth a platform to voice their perspectives on the SDGs and influence the APFSD process. Recognizing the importance of youth in driving sustainable development, this forum provides a unique space where young people can share their ideas and recommendations. This helps in the development of a Bhutan-specific Call to Action for the APFSD youth forum which aims at fostering innovative thinking, and hopefully being recognised by important stakeholders to create a foundation for inclusive and forward-looking policies.

What will happen after the National APFSD Youth Forum?

Following the forum, the collective call to action developed by Bhutanese youth will be presented at the APFSD Youth Forum, where it will join the calls to action from other nations. This combined set of youth-driven recommendations will then be presented at the APFSD main event, amplifying the voices of young people across the Asia-Pacific region and ensuring that youth perspectives are integrated into the region’s approach to achieving the SDGs.
